Proof Social Club changed ownership in December 2019. After nearly five years as Proof Public House, a serendipitous shift brought the space under the management of two long-time employees. Proof Public House soon evolved into Proof Social Club – an updated Chinatown Cheers. The new Proof is a place to catch up with old friends, make a few new ones, share some pizza, and shoot pool and whiskey.
CHINATOWN, HONOLULU – 1154 Fort Street Mall is a sentimental place spanning generations of Chinatown familiars. First Mercury Bar, then Proof Public House – and now, we are proud to present Proof Social Club: a bartender owned gathering place to call your own.
We’ve been active – sometimes downright rowdy – participants in the growth and change in Chinatown for the better part of a decade. When the opportunity arose, we knew we had to take on Proof to ensure our little ‘slice’ of the neighborhood remained a locally-owned, badass community hub. We are determined to retain the historic space’s grit and glory, and can’t wait for you to come check us out.
We promise you’ll still recognize the place – Proof Social Club is a fresh take on a classic. Our changes reflect a marriage of old and new: an abundance of plants hang next to an altar honoring Hawaiian royalty; pieces by local artists share a wall that serves as an homage to our past and Honolulu’s history.
And although most things won’t change too much, we’re excited to launch a brand new cocktail list, lunch specials, and fresh interiors. We’ll be featuring weekly menu items, and extending our kitchen hours for our hungry night owls.
Our pool table isn’t going anywhere, but we’re clearing out a corner to create a workspace for local professionals in need of fast wifi, and students who need an escape from Aloha Tower. A free sharing library, and our new French press coffee offering completes the work/study nook.
Proof Social Club aims to be a safe, respectful, home-away-from-home for our community. We’re excited to support the neighborhood and collaborate with our amazing network of Chinatown homies – we want to be the place that makes your day better.
